On the Farm STEM Immersion
Michigan NGSS On the Farm STEM Dairy Immersive Experience
The United Dairy Industry of Michigan is hosting an NGSS On the Farm STEM immersive experience for district curriculum directors, administrators, and high school science educators to learn the science of dairy and earn up to 40 CEU credits. This immersive experience brings together teams of science educators with experts in science education and agricultural science to envision a model for science learning that will inspire today’s students, our next generation of scientists and citizens, to take action and feel empowered to use agriculture to improve society.
This all-expenses-paid event covers a mileage stipend at the current IRS rate and all costs associated with lodging and meal expenses.

- Three virtual webinars. Two prior to the immersive experience and one after the immersive experience along with assignments for the webinars. The webinars are:
- Webinar #1 – Relevance, Authenticity, & Identity in Science Education
- Wednesday, April 19
- 5:30 PM – 7 PM EST
- Webinar #2 – Introducing NGSS & Agricultural Phenomena
- Wednesday, May 17
- 5:30 PM – 7 PM EST
- Webinar #3 – Sharing Outlines & Exploring Sensemaking Strategies
- Wednesday, July 26
- 5:30 PM – 7 PM EST
- Webinar #1 – Relevance, Authenticity, & Identity in Science Education
- A three-night travel experience of visiting farms, participating in in-person meetings, and enjoying group meals in and around Lansing, MI from June 20-23, 2023. (Travel and all costs associated with lodging and meal expenses will be covered for each participant.)
CEU Credit: Earn up to 40 CEU of professional development hours.
Event Expectation: The event will occur rain or shine, so prepare accordingly. Likewise, the event requires standing, walking and some climbing up and down stairs at some locations.
