The Crandall Family
Brad and I have been married 15 years this June. Before we met on a blind date, I had always said I wouldn’t marry a farmer. I was raised on a sheep and beef farm and I knew the endless hours of hard work. Having spent part of my life on a sheep and beef farm, and now on a dairy farm, I would have to say that dairy farming is even more intensive, because the work lasts around the clock, seven days a week. But I wouldn’t trade it!
We have the opportunity to raise our children, Zach (9), Kylie (7), and Isabel (5), in our home right next to the dairy farm. They experience the hard work it takes to run a successful business, and the responsibility of taking care of the land and the animals. Brad is always managing something for the dairy, even from home and vacation. I do all of the bookwork, so the kids see me putting in the work on holidays, weekends and at other times to “pay dad’s workers,” as they would say.
