Thankful for our Dairy Community
This holiday season, the team at Milk Means More is thankful for and celebrates the resilience of Michigan’s dairy community throughout 2020.
The dairy community continues to persevere through uncertain times, ensuring nutrient-rich foods like milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy foods are not only on our tables but also on the tables of those in need.
As stewards of the land, dairy farmers continue to use technology to conserve natural resources and care for the earth. The U.S. dairy industry holds themselves to a high standard, setting sustainability goals to become carbon neutral or better, optimize water use and improve water quality by 2050.*
Industry specialists such as veterinarians, nutritionists, equipment dealers, insurance agents, plumbers, electricians and so many more help farmers keep cows healthy, quality crops growing and farms running.
Milk truck drivers are still dedicated to delivering nutrient-rich milk from farm to processor rain or shine. Other truck drivers then help get the food from the processor to the store or school.
Mechanics keep farm machinery and milking parlors operational so farm employees can care for the cows and collect the milk we enjoy. Processors and cooperatives keep processing milk into safe, delicious foods we get to enjoy throughout the year such as cheese, ice cream and hot chocolate topping – whipped cream!
Retailers and grocery store employees continue to stock dairy foods and disinfect shopping facilities so consumers can safely shop for dairy products.
Last but not least, consumers continue to support Michigan dairy farm families in their community when they purchase these local dairy foods to nourish their families!
