This is what my typical day looks like in the summertime:
The first thing I have to do is feed my fair animals. I have pigs, sheep and a steer. My dairy animals get fed with the rest of the dairy animals.
Next I will go see what other employees are doing. Every day is different. It varies from helping with things like washing tractors to taking care of calves. When we are done, it is lunchtime and I go eat.
After lunch I go back out and usually sort the cows with the employees. Sorting the cows means we make sure the cows are in the right pens. We have many different pens. We even have two pens over at a different farm. The reason we move the cows/heifers into different pens is because as they get older they need to be fed differently. Also, when they are close to having a calf we move them to the freshening pen.
When we get done I will feed the fair animals again.
Some days I will go on a bike ride or a might even go across the road to the lake at my grandma’s house. They have pontoon boat, a speed boat, a paddle boat and a jet ski we can go on. I really like to go tubing and I like to swim on a really hot day.
