Fall is such a beautiful time of year. The leaves turn the most gorgeous colors; God’s artistic work has been painted on the world canvas. Fall is a time to take part in many fun things – hayrides, pumpkin patches, sitting around bonfires sharing wonderful memories and the list goes on and on.
Being dairy farmers, we have some other traditions – we harvest our corn and soybeans. Although it’s more of our job than our tradition, it seems to take most of our time and sometimes fun fall celebrations have to wait. We are usually getting our pumpkins late for the kids to carve, taking a hayride only when there is a Halloween party and snuggling up around the bonfire when it’s time to go to bed. But you know there’s no timeframe when you’re making memories. Sometimes it’s doing something out of the ordinary that makes the memories.
I love to decorate the house with fall decorations like leaves, knick-knacks, putting real corn stalks on the poles of our porch and even just planting mums in the flowerbed. Fall is a great time for hot chocolate, snuggling, homemade soup and enjoying the new season that we have been blessed with. It’s a good time to sit back and appreciate the true beauty of our landscape.
