Dairy Vocabulary: Calf, Heifer and Bull
Growing up on a dairy farm, there are many words that I hear and use every day that you’ve probably never heard of. I thought it would be fun to share some of these words with you, and tell you what they mean.
Calf – a baby dairy animal.
Heifer – a female dairy cow that has not had a calf yet (after they give birth, they are called dairy cows).
Bull – a male dairy animal (young bulls are called bull calves).
