Dairy Fun Activities to Cure Summer Boredom
“‘Mom, I’m bored!'” is a classic line all moms have heard, especially on the tail-end of summer break. Kids are itching to be back at school with their friends, and you can’t wait for them to be there too (It’s okay, moms are allowed to think that)! Many moms can’t help but wonder after they have done it all, what else is there to do to keep the kids busy for these final weeks before the “back to school” chaos begins. Whether you’re between camps and vacation or it’s just a rainy summer day, we’re here to help erase the boredom. Check out these dairy-fun activities you can do with the child who can’t find anything to do.
Trace, cut, and decorate, this video walks you step by step on how you can easily make animal themed planters with a milk jug. Here we decided to make our planters’ bunny themed.
Take pretend play up a notch with this “MOO-velous” craft using simple materials we all have around the house.
Get the “zoo” experience without ever having to leave the house with these Tiger Tail parfaits. Layer yogurt and pudding in a bowl ending with a yogurt layer. Sprinkle crushed cereal on top and voilà! Pro tip: While making your parfaits, get conversations going ’round the table. You can chat about your favorite animals or even stories you experienced at your last zoo outing.
Everyone needs to cool off during the summer, and we all know ice cream is the perfect treat. Instead of just grabbing it straight out of the freezer, turn ice cream into a fun and delicious activity.
Did you know we provide nutrition education materials to schools? Shh, don’t tell the kiddos, but this parent-led activity booklet for preschool and young children has a few ideas to sneakily get their “learn” on. Also, if you love these activities be sure to check out our other Nutrition Education Resources here!
Granted, this requires a bit of advance scheduling, but have you checked out all the dairy fun activities (and yummy dairy foods) a part of our summer events lineup? While you are at one of our events, don’t forget to grab a selfie with our cow mascot!
Did you try any of these crafts/recipes out or attend any of our events? Let us know by sending us your photos on our social media channels with #milkmeansmore.
