Wake up call
Most of us wake up each morning to the annoying sound of an alarm clock.
But for me I got to wake up to a phone call from my sister saying the balloons were coming close to the farm.
What she meant was hundreds of hot air balloons from all over the world were coming towards our farm. She crews for the balloons and so she will give me the scoop on what is going on. There was a nearby target and they were flying in over our freshly-cut hay field and having to drop a bean bag on this target. I’m sure you’ve seen balloon championships before – the one with the most points wins.
My understanding is that these balloonists had to ship their balloons months in advance of this week’s competition. They also had to sell their balloon to a US citizen because of licensing problems they had, and then, in turn, will buy it back at the end of the week.
Have you ever stopped to realize that we are such a small part of the world, and to literally say that we had the world on our back door is such a cool thought.
We saw balloons from Australia, Germany, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, of course the USA and so many more.
There are many times where our fields have the targets in them or on a random night, we have one land.
