Ingredients
  • 4cups milkfat-free, 2% or whole
  • 1/2cup chocolate syrup or dark chocolate syrup
  • 2teaspoons Chinese 5-spice powder
  • whipped creamoptional
  • 4 whole star aniseoptional
Instructions
  1. In medium saucepan combine milk, chocolate syrup and 5-spice powder. Cook, stirring frequently, over medium heat until hot. Do not boil.
  2. Ladle into four 10- to 12-ounce mugs. Top with whipped cream and star anise (if desired). (If using star anise for garnish, remove it before drinking.)
  3. Hot Cocoa Maker: In 60-ounce hot cocoa maker container combine milk, chocolate syrup and 5-spice powder. Cover and prepare according to manufacturer’s directions for high-speed heat-and-froth. Serve as directed above.
