Promoting Good Nutrition and Physical Activity
Not only am I a mom of three hardworking farm children (actually young adults!), but I am also a mom of three active athletes. Jacob and Levi both play basketball and football and Anne is studying athletic training in college and just ran her first half marathon! They know how important it is to stay active and eat healthy to keep their bodies strong and lean.
But we can always use more encouragement in this area! That is what the “Fuel Up to Play 60” program is all about. It teaches children from a young age to be active for 60 minutes a day and eat a variety of healthy foods including dairy products. This program was created in partnership between America’s dairy producers (through the National Dairy Council) and the National Football League.
Luther Elliss, former pro-bowl Detroit Lion, was able to visit our farm to learn more about how a nutritious and healthy glass of milk is produced. He was able to see how our calves each get specialized care and how our cows get complete nutrition in each bite they take. Mr. Elliss even milked a few cows himself!
We always enjoy teaching someone more about the pure and healthy milk we produce that — as part of a nutritious diet — makes for strong bodies!
