During planting, and chopping hay, and whenever we have long days in the tractors, we can’t stop for food, or drive through a drive-through. So, feeding our crew can become a task in itself. Sometimes we feed up to 20 people depending on the task we’re working on.
The meal has to be something that is easy to eat on the go (no soup, no steak, and no salads). One of my favorites to make is hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls. It makes a handheld easy-to-eat dinner for them, and me!
I also love my crock pots, sometimes I have three going at a time with all sorts of different food in them – including Crockpot Fajitas. Once all the food has been made and boxed up, then it’s time to find everyone. They are in different fields, doing all sorts of different things, so you drive around (knowing all of the fields) and hand out food.
The guys usually don’t have a sink nearby to wash their hands, so baby wipes can help. Sometimes there just isn’t any helping their dirty hands, and they eat anyways.
