Choices in the Dairy Aisle
When you make your weekly grocery shopping trip, and stand before the glass doors of the dairy case, there are some decisions to be made. Conventional or organic milk? Both conventional and organic milk contain the same amount of nine essential nutrients including calcium, vitamin D, and potassium.
There is no scientific evidence that shows organic dairy products are safer or healthier than regular dairy products. They both are equally wholesome, safe, nutritious, and contribute to your health and wellness.
Well, now that we know about all of the goodness in organic and conventional milk, let’s talk about what they both are missing. Both conventional and organic milk do not contain pesticides. There has been extensive testing for pesticide residues and controls in dairy farming practices by the state and federal government to ensure both conventional and organic milk are safe from pesticides.
Your conventional or organic milk does not contain any added hormones, however, all milk does contain very small amounts of naturally occurring hormones. Research does show there is no significant difference in hormone levels between organic and conventionally produced milk. Another thing your conventional and organic milk is missing is antibiotics. All milk, including conventional and organic, goes through approximately a dozen quality and safety checkpoints from the farm to the grocery store. If any illegal antibiotic residues are found, the milk is disposed of immediately and is not allowed into the food supply.
So, whether you choose organic or conventional milk and dairy products, you can know you are getting a wholesome, safe, and nutritious product.
